Then, last night we came home from eating out and getting groceries to find emergency vehicles galore parked in the road and in the parking lot near our apartment. The neighbors were all out and looking around worriedly, so I figured it was something bad. Sure enough, someone had been cooking and somehow a fire broke out and got out of hand. Everyone got out and no one was hurt. The fire department got there soon enough that it didn't spread too far, but there's still a lot of damage to personal property. A lot to clean up. Not fun.
