more baby thoughts

Thanks for the comments guys. I do need to keep this up to date. I haven't been keeping a journal or anything in addition to this. So far, there's not much to say besides I felt crappy, now I feel better, but fat. :) I've got a bump. Its just not baby yet! Well it's because of baby pushing stuff around to make room I'm sure, but I don't think the baby's reached my belly area yet. I'm sure I've added a few pounds of padding as a result of constant hunger. Or eating to stave off queasiness earlier on. Thankfully that part is over, but I can definitely manage to put the food down these days! My belly's getting too big to fit most of my regular clothes comfortably but I'm swimming in the maternity stuff. So I'm figuring out what combination of clothing works best to solve those issues.
I don't feel like I'm eating as healthily as I should. I'm sort of taking being pregnant and cravings as a pass to eat what I'm in the mood for. I get my fruits and veggies, but more sugar and fried stuff too. So I'm working on doing better with that now that I'm not so queasy anymore. I just know that after I have the baby, I have to be super disciplined to get the weight off. I know that breastfeeding is supposed to help with that, but who knows how that will all work out. I mean both in who knows if that will take the weight off for me and who knows if the baby and I will be able to learn to breastfeed. I'm going to try my hardest. I've just heard of several people who can't manage to do it. I'm not sure if they don't actually really want to do it to start with, a problem with milk supply, the baby has a hard time learning, or it just hurts that badly. Maybe a combination. Guess I'll find out.

I got to see the baby again last week. No 3D pictures this time since they were really mostly looking around to check on the status of an ovarian cyst. Unfortunately the cyst is still there (we were hoping it would go away on its own). So it looks like I'll probably be going in for surgery sometime soon. I haven't scheduled it yet, but this month is the window of time where they feel most comfortable to do surgery during the pregnancy. I could wait until after the baby gets here to get it removed, but there is some chance of the cyst twisting or bursting in the meantime and I'd prefer not to have emergency surgery late in pregnancy when there's more risk to the baby. Plus I'd like to be able to plan to devote as much time to baby care as possible once he/she gets here and not have to make Scott take care of me AND the baby and work his job too. But aside from the whole surgery thing, it was great fun to see the baby again. It's moving around a bunch in there now and I saw hands and feet and the heart beating and all that neat stuff. The tech took the ultrasound around to the bottom of the baby's feet to see if we could maybe see the gender, but of course we couldn't tell yet, but that's when I got to see the two little feet. It looked like one of those pro-life lapel pins of baby feet. Pretty neat.

How exactly will they do the surgery with the growing placenta?
I've been reading about how the mother's emotions are passed on to the baby, so if a mother isn't excited at all about the baby, the baby will subconsciously absorb this feeling of rejection. But a baby that is welcomed will already have happy associations with life.- So good job being happy for baby!!

FWIW, I had a hard time breastfeeding (for the first 4 months), but am so glad I did it. (Email if you want details), but I'm quite certain it didn't help me lose baby weight :(

By the way, getting a pedicure is a GREAT thing to do after you are about 7 months pregnant & can no longer reach your toes comfortably enough to paint your own toenails! :) I never had one until I was pregnant & it was very nice.

Oh, I typed a long comment & then forgot to type the word verification so I lost my message! "Sigh!" Oh well, guess I will re-type it. I was just saying that I have also read that breast feeding helps you lose baby weight. For me, it came off slowly, but surly. The hard part is getting your stomach muscles toned again! I finally decided I need to work harder at it, but seriously wonder if my belly will ever be the same (I still have a little leftover "baby belly").
As for nursing, I think you will do just fine! The lactation consultant/s at the hospital are VERY helpful & you can call them any time after you go home, or even go to a support group for extra help or encouragement if you are struggling. I think in most cases, if you really want to, you can.
