Apron project

I decided to take on a challenge. Re-create something without an actual pattern. It mostly worked. I'm happy enough with the results considering that I didn't really know what I was doing. :) I had an apron passed down to me that used to be my grandma's. I really like the style of it and so I wanted to see if I could make another one like it. So I laid it out and copied it the best I could. I now know a few things I could have done differently and it does look a bit different from the original, but still cute. However, now that I've accomplished it, I'm not as excited about starting another one. I'd like to make one with some Christmas fabric. Maybe that will be motivation enough, but probably not until after this Christmas. I gave this one to my friend Cindy who is living with us this semester. It was her birthday and she also seemed to like my grandma's apron and thought she may enjoy one like it. The one thing that didn't turn out quite right is the width of the top panel. Mine should have been a little wider. Thankfully Cindy is thin enough that it doesn't matter much. Hopefully she'll enjoy it for years to come.
Here's the original
The other difference is that mine has a much more drastic angle or point at the bottom. I'm not sure which way I like it better though...
And here's the one I made
And here's Scott trying them both on at the same time. One in back and one in front. Isn't he just adorable?
