Introducing... our Schnoodle - Ashton! We really had no clue what to name it and one of the dogs we wanted to adopt, but got snatched up before we could get to him, was named Ashton and we kind of liked it so we decided to use it. I believe we're also inadvertently training him to respond to baby, buddy, doggy, pupp
y, boy and other such names. He's doing pretty well on the housebreaking but not quite as good on sleeping when we want him to. He wants his bedtime to be around 2am. This is not cool with us. I'm ok waking up once or twice during the night to take him out but having him howling in the crate or even loose in the kitchen is getting old and we've only had him two days. The first night I was up three times because he started crying, but each time he went back to sleep. Last night I had to fight him to start sleeping, but once he was down for the night he stayed quiet the rest of the night. So not sure what the problem is. Tonight we plan to wear him out by playing with him and taking him on walks and whatever it takes so he's tired out around 10pm and hopefully he'll be ready to snuggle up in bed. Hopefully....! Because tomorrow is not the weekend and tomorrow I'm not allowed to be so tired.Unfortunately his puppiness is reinforcing Scott's reasons for not wanting a dog in the first place, but I keep telling him (and myself) that it will get better as he gets older and more used to our rules. How long that will be? We're not sure. But I guess its good training for having a kid someday. Sort of.
