This was the perfect weekend for camping. We tried to go a couple weeks ago and got rained out. So with the weather cooling off considerably and no rain in the forecast we invited our friends Ted & Aubrie to go camping with us. We had a really nice time camping at McCormick's Creek State Park - well all except for the firewood not wanting to catch on fire very well and our friend's kid, Justin, waking up at 4am screaming bloody murder. Did you know that tents don't muffle a child's screams at all? Vehicles do a much better job. I'm quite sure the entire campgrounds woke up for the poor kid's traumatic experience... :) They figure he must have had a bad dream and then woke up in new s
urroundings and it freaked him out. He was great though the rest of the time and quite happy. He loved checking everything out and being outdoors, as well as riding in his new backpack carrier when we went on our hike on Saturday. We went on a new trail; well it was actually several trails. Part of trail 10, 2, and 7. Trail 10 crossed the creek several times - we had tried to go on it a couple weeks ago but it had rained a lot and the water was up too high. But this time it was low enough that there were enough dry rocks exposed to cross on them. Trail 7 went by the White River and we found this cool tree that grew sideways out across the river. The only time we ever have any cool picture
s to take is when we're hiking and that's when I look my grossest, so you only get the far away picture. Somehow Aubrie manages to look nice when hiking. Not fair. Yes, even though the weather was very pleasant it is still very easy to work up a sweat here in humid Indiana. We also went to see Talladega Nights, the new Will Farrell movie, yesterday. It was quite entertaining. A typical Will Farrell comedy, not recommended for the easily offended. A few parts were a little over the top for me, but the bulk of it was hilarious. I was wondering if all the funny parts were going to be ones I had already seen in the previews, but the funny lines I had seen were even funnier in context and there were plenty of others that they didn't reveal in the previews.
Yes, overall an enjoyable weekend. Unfortuanately Scott's been suffering from an awful headache since last night. He gets them every once in a while. So he's not feeling well today still. Also sometimes we need a day to recover from the sleep we lost while camping. Sleeping on the ground is not really the highlight of the camping experience. :)
