I realized that I haven't posted pictures of our Tobey puppy. I sa
id you could go find some pictures on another site, but he deserves a little front page action. I'm a little hard on him sometimes. He's super cute but super crazy. He's calming down some these days though and he's a pretty good dog. I'm assuming he'll calm down even more after a little snip, snipy. Poor dogs - we smash their dreams of ever becoming parents.
Speaking of which - no I'm not pregnant - I just hope that I don't have this same favoritism problem when I have children. I know, these are dogs, those are children - it's different. I just know each child will be different too and I'm sure I'll have different feelings toward each one. It just worries me a little.
I also need to update you on the status of our back yard view. The building is finished and it doesn't look too bad - especially compared to construction me
ss. We had someone come and cut down the dead trees on our side of the line so our dead stick tree is gone. Yaay. And our new neighbors just recently planted a line of trees on their side. They are fairly small though, and so we will never reap the benefits. We just hope its enough for someone to be interested in buying our house. I still think what we have is better than looking into someone elses back window. And the business that is in this building is a doctors office that is closed or at least less busy when we're home in the evenings so it's not that big of a deal I don't think. Ok, really this is what I've talked myself into because I don't have any other choice. I would of course prefer the large grove of trees that we used to enjoy. But whatever - one must move on. Oh and looking to the left they're still working on the 'butterfly garden'. I still don't know what this actually means, but it looks like several trees and bushes - hopefully some flowers in warmer weather. It could be pretty nice. I also discovered a new walking trail just beyond the road out back. I'll have to explore that a bit more and see where it goes.
Oh yeah, and our tree planting effort is still underway. Out of the 10 or more trees that we planted out back I have counted 3 that survived. Sad huh? I think some of them got planted too close to the construction line and got bulldozed. Then the rest got covered up by weeds and didn't get eno
ugh sun, plus it was a pretty dry summer so don't think we watered them enough. So much stuff grows up out there in the summer that it was hard to get to them to tend to them. Luckily we only really need a few - and we still have three on our deck in the planter that are doing well. They are getting to look more tree like as the middle stalk is turning brown and getting more sturdy. (At least I think that's what it means - and not that they're dying.) We're not sure what us moving means for these trees - if we'll transplant them out back. Don't think whoever looks at our place is going to realize these trees are even there so we'll probalby take at least a couple of the three in the pot with us to plant at our new house - depending on what the tree situation is like there.
