Yup, it's been a while since I've updated again. Maybe someday I'll go back and talk about the things that happened between now and last post, but for now, just wanted to mention some highlights of the long weekend.
Firstly and most importantly, my husband came back from Germany on Friday!!! He was there for a month to collaborate with some people who do similar research to his. He started out not enjoying it very much but once he got used to how things worked he had a goo

d time and made some good friends but I think he is glad to be home. We had a welcome home party for him today and enjoyed some yummy food and enjoyed time with friends. I love the idea of having people bring something if they want to. It makes hosting so much easier and you get to try all kinds of great new recipes. We had contributions of banana nut bread, spinach and strawberry salad, and homemade salsa with chips. So good!
Our friend's little boy, Justin, loves playing with Ashton and was sitting outside eating watermelon while the guys were grilling. Here he is sharing his watermelon with Ashton. It was just too cute. They were both there happily and contentedly taking turns getting bits of watermelony goodness.
On Saturd

ay we drove up to Jonesboro, IN to attend my friend Angela's wedding. We were friends in college so I also got to see Naomi and Peter R. there as well as some other Bethel people who were able to attend. It was great being able to catch up a bit on how people have been doing

and see them after 5 or so years. Goodness, time flies by. I can't believe it's been 5 years since college already. We weren't able to stay too long since we unintentionally took the long way there and missed the wedding part... :| But we were able to go to the reception. However, Scott's internal clock was still not quite on our timezone yet so he was pretty tired and not feeling the greatest so we made our exit sooner than anticipated. Ang and her new husband Derek rode into the reception on this pony cart. I guess Derek's family is big into horses so they incorporated them into the celebrat

ion in several places; they drove away (around the parking lot) in a horse drawn carriage, drove into the outdoor reception tent in this cart, and gave the kids horse/pony rides during the reception.
On our extended trip up to Jonesboro, we happened upon this truck that we first didn't take much

note of. I just assumed it was empty and whatever was on the truck bed was just extra parts or straps to hold things down when they did have a load. Upon closer inspection though, we noticed that this truck driver was indeed carrying an important piece of machinery. At least it's an important part of your typical sandbox. We very much enjoyed this truck drivers sense of humor.
