I think most of you who read this know already, but some of you may not. I recently was given a new job opportunity. It was a bit crazy, the way the situation unfolded, as I was asked to replace someone who was told they were not a good fit. I guess there were some issues that weren't resolving themselves. I was quite leery of accepting the job, but my 'maybe' was taken as a 'yes' and off I went to a new adventure in Payroll! I was reluctant and sad to leave my co-workers where I was, but I am enjoying my new position and it will be even better when I can be officially trained and have my own access to the HR system. Currently I am learning on the job and sharing a computer with the lady training me. It's a good bit more difficult trying to meet deadlines with just one computer. We managed it last week and I'm sure will manage it again this coming week. It's just a tad more stressful. Adding to the stress recently was that the lady taking my position at my old job arrived a week after I had left. It just so happened that my ex-co-worker had planned her vacation for that week…plus my ex-boss was ill on Monday, so the new girl arrived and there was no-one to train or welcome her. So lucky me, learn a new job and train the new lady as well. I went to the chiropractor yesterday and he noticed that all my muscles were tight and had to work a little harder to get my adjustment right. He said there are two causes for that kind of tension – fighting a virus and stress. Hmmm… But things are going more smoothly now and I am de-stressing. Plus I wasn’t asked to train in my old job much at all except for on Monday.
Scott is grading finals tonight. We want to be able to leave sort of early tomorrow for John’s graduation so Scott may have to pull an all-nighter. Hopefully not. I need to go help him alphabetize and then get to bed myself. Someone’s got to be awake to drive tomorrow.
