Hello to my few faithful readers. Sorry I've not posted for a while. (I did post once after Christmas but it was something I had written and saved and forgotten about so I posted it in the time frame it was meant to be posted in - see "New Old Post".) I was sort of waiting to post until I downloaded some of my Christmas pictures, but unfortunately our PC is still not up and running. So sad :( I need to figure out a way to download them to this Mac that I'm writing from. Maybe I'll just be forced into becoming a mac user whether I like it or not since its my only option these days. Scott has been trying to figure out the problem with our PC for a while. We had it back up and runnning again but not long after it decided not to work anymore. Even my brother, majoring in computer science, can't give Scott any extra input on what is definitely wrong. So we're returning a few parts that seem to be causing the problem and will see if new ones work any better. At least the parts are warrantied so we don't have to pay anything but shipping. Unless that doesn't fix the problem, then it's off to the local computer professionals at PCMax to see if they can find the problem. I feel bad for Scott because this was his first 'build-your-own' computer project. And it worked wonderfully for a while but now just seems to randomly poop out for no reason. I know it's frustrating to him. But I guess this way he gets more troubleshooting practice. He'll be an expert in no time.
Yeah, so Christmas and New Years and all that was great! We had a lot of time with family and what was especially great was that my parents were able to come back for a couple weeks and we had some nice time with them. They never had a lot of time to get to know Scott before we got married so it's always nice when we can have family time and so they can get to know him and he can get to know them a little better each time. We even went on a hike and had a little winter picnic with them when they came down here to visit us. It's been a pretty mild winter so far - except for the end of November when it snowed and was below zero for a bit in there. It's getting colder again these days but most days are still above freezing so it's been very enjoyable. I keep wondering when it's going to come to an end and winter will really show up in full force. NOT that I'm wishing for it to. I'll be fine if it stays like this all winter, but it just seems too good to be true...
Then after New Years we had another week of family time since my brother was here for a few days before going back to school after mom and dad left and then Scott's brother was here a few days as well. So it kept me busy cooking for three boys - I always seemed to underestimate how much they could eat but they seemed to be satisfied. It's much easier for me to reconcile just Scott and I going out to eat since we can usually share something or I order something small, but it makes you think twice when you have two hungry college boys to feed. Most of the time when we went out they paid for their own stuff but I didn't want them to have to do that too much - being poor college students and all so I tried to cook whenever possible. We all went out to see King Kong one night which was enjoyable. A bit freaky in parts but pretty well done. Would you believe that our student newspaper here mentioned that King Kong has racial undertones? It's amazing how people look for ways to be offended. I guess if there has to be any underlying meaning, that could be it, but really, I think it's a stretch.
So anyway, now it's back to the daily grind. There's always something interesting going on in between eat, sleep and work, but it's sometimes hard to make those things interesting for other people to read.
Oh, our church just had their first service in the new building today. There is still some work left to do on the building - painting and finishing things up. But it is complete enough for us to have service. There were so many people there. It seemed like more than just the normal crowd showed up - maybe people have been waiting for the church to move to try it out or maybe a lot of people invited friends. I don't know but even with all the extra room we all just barely fit into one service. But it's pretty exciting to have more room and some great new features to expand our ministry. The sermon was on how it's all about Him and it was really great to focus on all God has done for our church and for each of us personally. All that we do should point to God's glory. Holy holy holy is the LORD God Almighty. The whole earth is full of His glory!
