I watched Bride & Prejudice last week and I thought it was kind of cute. Plus I always enjoy seeing the clashing/meeting of two cultures that I have personally experienced and being able to relate to certain aspects. Well not the rich American aspect but anyway. A nice westernized bollywood film with all the typical cheezy hindi movie bits and beautiful Indian fashions.
On a completely different note, I love my husband! (even though he's not a big Indian film fan) He got me three perfect roses for our third anniversary. Well, I kind of asked him for them, but he followed through and sent them to me at work even. So I've been enjoying them all week - and they are gorgeous! They represent very well how wonderful the past three years have been. Ok, enough mush. :\ Sorry.
We haven't done much to celebrate yet since the summer session that S is teaching two classes for, is just wrapping up. So he is grading homework, writing exams, and answering student's questions. He's also writing an abstract for an upcoming conference where he has to present a poster and he's doing research. So he's pretty busy! But we are taking a trip to the Smokeys this month for vacation and as an anniversary gift to ourselves. We're pretty excited about that. I don't think I've been there before so I'm interested to see what it's like. I've been hearing from all sorts of people how beautiful it is there. I was calling around for options of places to stay and everyone had such STRONG southern accents. So that should be fun to hear everyone talkin' like that. I think I'm going to come back with a southern drawl. :D It must be my whole chameleon-like way that I deal with different cultures. I feel like I have to adjust so I can communicate better and don't seem like an outsider. Although, I don't feel like I have to do that in B'town - maybe because it is more insulated from the outlying 'culture'. Or maybe because it's not so much an accent here in southern indiana, it's just speaking sloppy/incorrect english. Ok maybe Tennesse is like that too. I don't know...I'll let you know my assessment when I get back. We shall see. But in any case I'm excited to go.
But in the meantime... I'll get through working a few more days. It's pretty good because I'm staying busy. It's that time of year when all the projects NEED to be done before school starts up. The bad part about that is that these are all the people who haven't planned ahead or have had complications with their project and so need everything right now - leaving me zero time to do my job. Instead they want me to push it through anyway or somehow make the items that no one has in stock magically appear in a week. Riiight. Some things just aren't possible.
Ok, wrapping up here - I can't take much more sitting in front of a computer...
